I recommend performing a clean installation of video drivers.
NVIDIA GTX 680 DRIVER INSTALL
When you go to install driver, select custom install, check mark "clean install", and only install graphics and PhysX.

NVIDIA GTX 680 DRIVER DRIVER
When you install the graphics driver set, are you also installing the audio driver? If so, uninstall all Nvidia items in prog/features, reboot in safe mode, run Driver sweeper (Fusion) for Graphics & PhysX only, then reboot back into windows, install the latest driver, whql or beta. If it turns out that these two devices simply won't work together, then I'll need to look at replacing the card with something else altogether, which would be a right pain in itself. So, I think now the crash is happening not just when the computer is running, but instead after I start doing something that actually uses the graphics card in any way.Įdit: Could there be a compatibility issue going on here? Is anyone using this motherboard and graphics card setup? If not, if anyone is in a position to quickly test the two together that would be extremely helpful. After that, I started up GPU-Z and tried to do the render test again, but just a few seconds after starting that the computer died again. It seems to have been doing fine for about 20 minutes or so, but then once I came back and started moving the mouse around, it crashed for a second, then recovered (as in, it said "blah blah driver has crashed and recovered). This time when I turned my computer on, instead of doing anything I just let it run for a while with the desktop, no programs. Well, tried that, not sure if it did anything. I've done this process of installing/uninstalling several times, so I have no doubt that this is what's causing the issue.Īny help? Has anyone gotten this issue before? If the problem is some other program I have installed, it must have been something that came pre-installed somewhere, because I was getting this problem before I even downloaded chrome/steam, let alone any games or other programs.

I can start up in safe mode, uninstall the drivers (from device manager), and then re-start and the computer will run fine, except of course I can't run any games since there's no drivers installed. This only happens AFTER I install the drivers. (IE: what happens when you unplug your monitor) The computer continues to run, and eventually I'm forced to shut it off manually. To be precise, what happens is, roughly 30-40 seconds after the computer starts up and the login screen appears, the screen will freeze, a few minor artifact will appear, and then the monitor will lose connection.

(I don't think anything else is relevant, but can provide if necessary)įor the most part, everything is running smoothly, but for one key issue: Whenever I install the drivers for the graphics card, whether from the disc that came with it, or from the manufacturer website, it causes the computer to crash shortly after being turned on.
